The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food has published today in the Official State Gazette (BOE) the call for the award ‘Alimentos de España Mejores Aceites de Oliva Virgen Extra, campaña 2024-2025’, whose aim is to contribute to promote extra virgin olive oils and encourage producers to obtain quality oils.
The categories in which you can participate are as follows:
Oils from conventional production, with three prizes: ‘Alimentos de España Best Extra Virgin Olive Oil with Bitter Green Fruitiness’, ‘Alimentos de España Best Extra Virgin Olive Oil with Sweet Green Fruitiness’ and ‘Alimentos de España Best Extra Virgin Olive Oil with Ripe Fruitiness’.
Organically produced oils: ‘Alimentos de España Best Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil’ award.
Among all the oils presented in any of the categories, the one with the best score in the tasting phase and in the physicochemical assessment will also be awarded the special ‘Alimentos de España Best Extra Virgin Olive Oil’ prize.
The competition is open to those who own the authorised mills that have their registered office in Spain. The same mill may enter the competition for both conventional and organic extra virgin olive oil, but the same batch may only compete for one of them.
